What’s a Super Plunge?
Super Plungers are a rare group, possessing the ability–and the desire–to Plunge 24 times in 24 hours. Super Plungers are quite simply put, SUPER. Over a 24-hour period, these truly elite Plungers will take 24 icy dips (once an hour, every hour) into Lake Calhoun. All Super Plungers and their handler will live in a heated tent on the beach during this fun, round-the-clock event.
Super Plunging begins at noon Friday, March 3, leading off all Plunge activities for the two day Plunge event.
Plunging will take place every hour, on the hour (weather pending), until the final Plunge on Saturday, March 5 at 10:30 a.m. to officially kick off the main Polar Plunge.
For their amazing efforts, Super Plungers will be treated like the kings and queens they are, receiving meals, snacks, beverages and the ultimate pampering throughout the 24 hours. Additionally, Super Plungers will be outfitted in exclusive Plunge gear, have access to all Minneapolis Plunge events throughout the two day festival, and provided with sleeping and warming quarters.
Each Super Plunger is also required to have one handler to support their efforts.
We’ll have hourly themes for participants, fun activities to do between Plunging, and stories to tell your friends and family for a lifetime.
How Do I Become a Super Plunger?
Those interested in being a Super Plunger must raise $5,000 prior to March 3, 2017 when festivities begin. Special Olympics Minnesota can help provide tools to guide your fundraising and meet your Plunge goal.
