5/7/20 memo – Bemidji & Edina Cool School Plunges canceled
Due to ongoing developments tied to the coronavirus (COVID-19) and the heightened risks for people with intellectual disabilities and the elderly, Special Olympics Minnesota has canceled the Bemidji and Edina Cool School Plunges.
3/15/20 memo – Edina Cool School Plunge postponed
Due to recent developments tied to the coronavirus (COVID-19) and the heightened risks for people with intellectual disabilities and the elderly, Special Olympics Minnesota is postponing the Edina Cool School Plunge for a future date this school year that is yet to be determined.
This decision was made carefully based on new developments around COVID-19 and the Edina School District.
Canceling our events is disappointing and not a decision we make lightly; however, we know that no event compares to the importance of protecting the health of our athletes and the entire Special Olympics Minnesota community.
We are still planning to Plunge this year at a later date!
• You can still raise money to you meet your goal!
• All dollars raised will still support your school, clubs, teams and Special Olympics Minnesota.
• You will get your incentives at the newly scheduled Edina Cool School Plunge (Date TBD)

3/12/20 memo – Grand Rapids & Warroad Plunges Canceled
Due to recent developments tied to the coronavirus (COVID-19) and the heightened risks for people with intellectual disabilities and the elderly, Special Olympics Minnesota is suspending all activities, including canceling the Grand Rapids & Warroad Polar Plunges.
This decision was made carefully based on new developments around COVID-19 and consultation with the Centers for Disease Control and the World Health Organization.
Special Olympics Minnesota serves a population where many are at a heightened risk (age, compromised immune systems, and/or medically fragile) and often more susceptible to respiratory illnesses. Canceling our events is disappointing and not a decision made lightly; however, we know that no event compares to the importance of protecting the health of our athletes and the entire Special Olympics Minnesota community.
Thank you so much for your willingness to jump into a frozen lake to support our athletes! It is because of people like you that we are able to provide opportunities for individuals with intellectual disabilities in Minnesota. The fundraising incentives that you have earned will be sent directly to you in the mail, including a bonus item.
We apologize for any disappointment or inconvenience this decision might cause. We’d love to see you next year! If you choose to join us again in 2021, your first $75 fundraising level is on us.
